There is so much about climate change in the news that we don’t always know where to start!
We could wait a long time for Government and international action, but meanwhile we need to help improve things where we live.
No-one can do it on their own, we need to work with others in our area – and the Great Collaboration is here to help.

THE JOURNEY
This is not a set programme – some of these stages may be happening at the same time:
- Beginning – the “Why” we need to take action.
- Declaring – the “What” – announcing our intentions and agreeing new policies.
- Doing – the “How” – most of us are already delivering at least one climate action.
- Targeting – measuring our impact as we aim to reach Net Zero in carbon emissions.
- Co-Operating – working with others towards the best future for our area.
THE COMPANIONS
The journey is easier when we are travelling with other local people:
- Our Community – working with local residents and businesses.
- Our Guides – local advisers and other sources of wisdom.
- Other Parishes – joining forces with our neighbours (link to digital map)
- Other Councils – working with our local planning authorities.
THE RESOURCES
Winnie the Pooh had heard about “provisions”, but just wanted to take some food!
- Communication – how to reach and involve others in climate action.
- Funding – how to gather finance for our planned actions.
- Powers – how statutory powers can support our actions as local councils.
Key guidance and templates for local action – let us go forward together!
