This is a library of climate actions to be carried out by groups of people, rather than individuals.
For convenience, we have listed them under the same sub-headings as for the sixty individual actions.
Some of the guidance contains information particular to local councils, such as their lawful powers for taking action, but the “Steps to Success” are probably universal.

Active Travel
We will support healthier travel options such as walking and cycling to help people get out of their cars.
Aligning Bus and Train Timetables
We will support greater use of public transport by encouraging bus and train companies to work together to ensure their route timetables are connecting, for the benefit of local travellers.
Bee Squares
We will support local residents in dedicating a square metre of garden to wildflowers for bees.
Car Sharing
We will support the development of a car sharing club to help reduce local carbon emissions.
Change to green banking
We will move our account to a bank that supports the environment without investing in fossil fuels.
Community Composting
We will set up a community composting scheme for creating and sharing compost.
Community Fridge
We will establish a community fridge in our neighbourhood to help reduce food waste.

We will find a site where our local community can come together to manage our own fruit trees.
Creating a Community Woodland
We will work with local people to create and run a community wood.
Creating new allotments
We will find a new local site where people can grow their own food.
Electric Bike Hire
We will support the development of electric bike hire as part of the move away from fossil-fuelled vehicles.

We will install suitable charging points in our local area.
Energy Audit
We will carry out an audit to identify how we can make our buildings and work operations more energy efficient.
Habitats for Biodiversity Net Gain
We will identify local sites where the biodiversity is to be respected or upgraded by future developers.

We will investigate the installation of an air source heat pump for our council or community building.
Hedge Laying
We will support traditional hedge laying as part of managing hedgerows in our area.
Managing Road Verges for Biodiversity
We will work with local councils to manage verges for the benefit of wildlife as well as people.
Monitoring water courses
We will monitor our local natural watercourses as part of working to conserve our local environment and preserve water species.
