Tree Planting
We will organise some local tree planting to be carried out by local residents.
- Trees are important in removing carbon from the atmosphere
- Tree planting is also a fun event for the community including schools, and the young trees themselves (called “whips”) are not expensive – in some cases they may be donated free by a local wildlife organisation
- Not every type of tree is suitable for planting on any piece of land – the Woodland Trust provides advice on tree planting including which species to plant where, and there is a range of support from other organisations such as Carbon Footprint
- One case study of parish tree planting is from Rudby in Yorkshire – “Trees for Tomorrow”
