No Mow May
We will restrict mowing of public areas when wildflowers are appearing.
- We’ve lost approximately 97% of flower-rich meadows since the 1930’s and with them gone are vital food needed by pollinators, like bees and butterflies.
- A healthy green area with some long grass and wildflowers benefits wildlife, tackles pollution and can even lock away carbon below ground
- As climate change is bringing the seasons forward, we need to consider restricting mowing in April as well!
- Further resources and support is available from the annual campaign run by Plantlife
