Community Composting
We will set up a community composting scheme for creating and sharing compost.
- A way to reduce household food waste and avoid the need for commercial fertilizers that require high energy (carbon) inputs is to compost our fruit and vegetable peelings, used tea leaves and other compostable materials then use the resulting compost to support fruit and vegetable growing in our gardens
- For those who don’t have space for a compost bin, community composting provides the answer through providing shared central compost bins
- Advice on how to set up such a scheme comes from sources such as Social Farms and Gardens that support a Composting in the Community Network
- An example of how it all works is the Brighton & Hove Food Partnership
